Success Stories 2008

Stella (formerly Belle) is doing so well! She and Rocky are like bookends, and even Chloe has really taken to her. Stella is teaching her how to be a dog, and it's so much fun to watch. Rocky is exhausted all the time now, 'cause Stella is constantly trying to get him to play. She is such a sweety, and she has made a wonderful addition to our little family! Thanks Wesley and Athens Canine Rescue for bringing her into our lives.

I have been intending to email with an update on Emma.  She is doing very well and we are so happy with her!   She enjoys running with me and has gotten up to 8 miles, although this is rare.  We have about a 3-5 mile average.  We have also found a great trail behind the elementary school where she can go off leash through the woods. William is obsessed with her.  He and she are constant companions and she sleeps in his bed at night.  He has made her a valentine.  At Christmas he made a giant ornament with her face in it!  Emma loves rough housing with Bob and can't wait for his arrival from work in the evening she will lay at on on his feet as long as he will allow.

Lizzie (left) and Emerson

Lily (formerly known as Lizzie) has been with my dog Emerson and I for almost a month now, and she has been nothing short of an absolute pleasure! These two are inseperable now, and I couldn't imagine not having this adorable pup in my life! ACR was absolutely awesome through the whole experience, and although two dogs is enough for me, I can't say enough great things about them to all of my friends! This little girl has definitely found a permanent home! :)

Greetings from Bonnie and Clyde (formely Nancy and Drew)..The super Pugs. These guys came to live with us a few weeks ago and i am not sure whose life has changed for the better. I want to think that we have given them a great home with lots of love and joy. However the joy and love they have added to us has been the best,  I feel so lucky to have been able to adopt these kids and give them a good home envirorment and they have thanked us a hundred times over.  My experience with athens rescue was a great one. If anyone reading this is unsure about adopting from this resuce league, please do not hestitate. I was given so much information and help before I adopted I really felt  I knew these  guys before I ever brought them home, and I know that their foster mom gave them excellant care. She was so great and also so careful to make sure that these (kids) would have a good home with me. Bonnie and Clyde love to play with each other and Clyde almost always has a ball in his mouth, Bonnie was not much into toys, however I did find one she liked and she drags it every where. We have just have a conversation and they asked me to tell Bly that they miss her a lot, but not to worry as they are happy and sassy (especially the diva Bonnie). Thanks to all of you at Athens canine rescue. We will continue to send updates.

I wanted to share my story with you!  My name is Cindy Hooten and I adopted Kasey (aka Buddha ) on April 16th.  I already had a small dog named Toby and was very nervous about trying Buddha .  My dog Toby had been the only dog in our house for 7 years and was very jealous of other dogs and even children.  I even backed out once and just couldn't get Kasey off my mind.  With encouragement from his foster parent Stacey I decided to give it a try.  Thanks to Stacey Kasey has a new home and my Toby has a new brother! They're getting along very good and really hit if off very good from the start.  We went on a camping trip this past weekend for a "real" test and it was so much fun! My husband came up with the name Kasey.   If you're thinking about adopting but just not sure because of situation or circumstances at your home, talk it over with the adoption agency.  Don't give up!
