Taffy

Taffy, formally known as Nilla. is very happy in her new home. Adopted in 04 she is still loving us and we still love her.  Athens Canine Rescue is a wonderful place to get your perfect dog. As you can see Taffy likes cats and that was one of our requirements, thanks Athens Canine Rescue and Merry Christmas.

Stella, adopted October 2004

Stella, formerly Molly, was adopted October 2004.  She has been the best dog I've ever had and is very smart.  She was potty trained as soon as we took her home.  She only whimpered once in her crate the first night we got her and didn't cry once after that. She has learned sit, lay down, speak, loves to shake, and likes to dance and twirl.  We are now trying to teach her to put her toys away being that she is never satisfied with one toy but all of her toys out of her toy box.  She is still learning on this one. Stella’s favorite things to do are sunbathe on the deck, cuddle, swim, and she loves to gnaw on bones.  She is an excellent swimmer and will catch sticks in the river all day if we stay there.  Stella loves her cuddle time at night and has no qualms with plopping herself wherever she wants.  She seems to be paralyzed when it comes to getting into comfy position and can be hard to move.  Stella has been great since day 1 and is a member of the family.  We love her very much and look forward to our many more park adventures, squirrel chasing, and tail wagging to come.  She is a spoiled and happy pup.

Isa, adopted July 2004

My family adopted one of your dogs last summer. We re-named her "Isa" and she has become part of the family. She thinks she is one of the kids. We have enjoyed her so much. We couldn't have asked for a more tolerant dog....she had to be with a 2 year old, 4 year old, and 2 cats! And she takes it all with a smile! Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Luke (in front), adopted December 2004

Luke has been the perfect addition to our family.  He was very shy and timid when he first arrived in December, 2004. But, it did not take long for him to settle into his new home with his
energetic brother, Buddy.  The two have become inseparable and after a long nap in the sun, both love to play out in the backyard.  Luke has successfully taught Buddy to track squirrels, chipmunks, and of course, the neighborhood cats!  And their typical beagle howls can be heard throughout the neighborhood when they have hit the trail - which brings smiles every time!  Thanks ACR and thanks to the foster family who took such great care of him!  Our family would not be the same without our Luke!

Duncan, Adopted June 2004

I adopted Duncan last June and was able to take this very big puppy into my home after he spent a few weeks in a foster home. The past year has been great as I've seen Duncan pack on the pounds and grow into what can only be described as a miniature horse.  His sweet temperament hasn't changed and he is loved and adored by everyone that he meets.  He has learned everything I have attempted to teach him very quickly and knows my schedule and routine better than I do.  He really is the best dog I have ever had.  Sadly, we'll be leaving the Athens area for New Haven, CT in mid-August, but I won't forget how great your organization has been with helping me bring this dog into my life.  I'll be sure and send more pictures of Duncan when the snow starts accumulating this coming winter (a much more Newf friendly environment).

Luna (the husky) adopted March 2004

Luna is having her one-year anniversary with her new family, and we thought it would be a good time to send you an update on how she's doing.  We are still amazed at how quickly Luna settled in with the other dogs and learned all of the routines.  She seems completely happy and entertains us endlessly with her unique personality.  Her heartworm treatment was successful and she is full of energy.  We are enclosing a few Christmas pictures of her and her doggie siblings.  Luna is such a sweet girl and we feel so lucky to have her as part of our family. A special thanks to her foster parents for saving her and to ACR for bringing us together.

Belle, adopted in 2004

Bella comes by to visit her old ACR friends from time to time during our Adopt a Pet days.  She couldn't be happier, safer or more loved.

Billy, adopted December 2004

Billy is soooo great, such a good boy. He is really enjoying life here. He has a great bed right in front of the fire place. He enjoys going on long walks and jogs outside. He is learning commands very fast and growing fast as well. We really love him and feel like we have known him for much longer than 3.5 weeks!  He has never acted like a stranger with us.

Smokey (left), adopted November 2004

Things are going really well. Smokey is a little snuggly doll and we love him. He and his brother (Amir) are starting to cuddle up together and it's really sweet. We're having a great time with him. He's very smart and therefore learns really quickly. Thanks so much for everything as always.

Sammie, adopted September 2004

The saying is true that "the heart has many chambers and there is always room for another to love"... We feel like we have a member of our family that has been there all along. She is on her morning walk with her dad as I write this. Thank you for all you do to make the world a better place.

Maisie (right), adopted November 2004

The ACR dog we knew as Sophie came back to visit her old ACR friends on Adopt a Pet day as a very happy little girl named Masie.  She couldn't be doing better!

Oscar and Rocky, adopted Nov. 2004.  And a year later, all grown!

Oscar and Rocky are doing just fine. I just got back from a quick run around the circle before their breakfast. I took them separately as they have a hard time focusing on the walk when they have each other to jump on!  They've done very well as far as potty training goes, with only a few minor accidents. Of course, there are some basic misbehaviors from time to time, but overall they are VERY well behaved. We are planning on taking them to school sometime soon after Thanksgiving to work on things like the occasional nipping and jumping. Thanks again for helping to bring these two wonderful boys into our lives. They're a real pleasure (and a lot of work :)

One year later....

The boys are doing great, in fact we just got our yard fenced in so they are in heaven.  Our neighbor got a puppy shortly after us (Gus) and he's their new best friend.  I want more!  Just kidding ;) I attached a picture of a lazy Saturday morning for your enjoyment.  Thanks again for helping us to find these cuties!

Gracie (formerly Daisy, adopted Nov. 2004

Gracie is doing better by the minute. We got our first tail wag on Saturday, our first trot on Sunday, our first run on Monday, and as we speak she is fast asleep on our bed. Her appetite is great...as long as we stay in the room with her. She is such a shy and timid girl (except when it comes to getting on the couch or bed!), but is getting braver and more trusting every day. She is friendly with all the dogs she meets at the park, and everyone we pass remarks on how pretty she is, and how she just prances down the sidewalk. She is enjoying her treats, two dog beds and lots of snuggling. Needless to say, she has stolen our hearts!

Liza, adopted September 2004

Liza is doing wonderful.  The first night she only cried for 4 minutes in her crate then she fell fast asleep.  The second night, and every night since then she hasn't cried at all.  We have been walking her regularly to start the house training process.  Liza is a great addition to our family.

Peanut, adopted November 2004

Peanut was known as "Sally" when she was an ACR dog, but she much prefers her new name, and her new life.  What a happy girl!
