Manny is a Jack Russell/Basenji mix and an extra little version of both these small breeds. He's quite the energetic clown when he wants to be, but he isn't all action all the time. Manny's foster mom says he's the perfect little sidekick - he instinctively mimics the energy he senses from the people around him. If you are feeling lazy and want to lounge on the couch and watch TV, Manny is right there with you, lounging away. If you are excited and want to run around or play outside, then Manny is a ball of energy, running as fast as his short little legs can carry him to retrieve a ball or frisbee. Manny is also good with kids, and although he doesn't live with any in his foster home, he's been around them quite a bit and behaved beautifully. He's a great size for small kids, and most important, he's very forgiving. He's never showed any shred of annoyance to young children, and enjoyed being the center of attention at the recent open house at the vet school, where children lined up to walk him. :) Although Manny has lived with other dogs, we think he'd actually prefer to be the only dog since he can be a little jealous when other dogs get attention. On the other hand, he's a great buddy for a cat that likes dogs. He lives with one cat that doesn't want to play so he ignores him, but plays hide-and-seek with the other playful cat. All in all, if you're looking for a happy dog that bonds really tightly with his owners and is always somewhere near your feet, Manny is the little man for you!
