Quick stats:   born November 2006 crate trained housebroken good with cats

Emily is such an adorable little creature - only 15 lbs, with the petite frame, pointy ears and curly tail of a spitz mix. She also looks like the love child of a squirrel and a fox, though this is less likely ;) Although Emily is a dainty little thing, she isn't a diva or a hothouse flower - she greets everybody with a busy, happy tail and many kisses. She likes to romp around the yard with the other small dogs in her foster home and on our adopt a pet days, she's a regular welcome wagon to all the other dogs, big or little. She loves to be held and will wrap her paws around your neck and give your face a good cleaning while she's at it.

Emily's wonderful temperament is all the more amazing because she didn't have the best start in life. Despite her petite size, she was an outside dog at a housing project and wasn't always well treated. She liked to greet the kids as they got off the school bus each day, but often she wasn't greeted nicely in return :( Fortunately, neighbors finally called animal control and Emily was taken to the safety of an animal shelter. She was absolutely petrified at the shelter, but her foster mom recognized a good dog in distress, and snatched her up and brought her home.

After just a few days the real Ms Emily began to appear and has never gone away. She is unfailingly happy, outgoing and easy to live with. She's great with the cats as well as the dogs and is a smart and obedient girl. We knew her shyness was gone for good when she boldly stole a black bean burrito with extra salsa when foster mom wasn't looking! Apparently Emily loves people, dogs and Mexican food :) If you think this girl is cute in her pictures, you should see her in person! Irresistable!

For size perspective: Emily's friends below are
a chihuahua and a dachshund mix.
